It is been an exciting time here at the station, city management has selected our new fire chief. Larry Wright has accepted the position and will begin work on April 1st. I will be working along side Chief for a week and then shipped back to the engine. The time spent as interim fire chief has had its challenges but all in all it has been a good learning experience. I would like to thank Judy Miller and Ralph Hendricks for giving me the opportunity to be interim chief. We are currently waiting to hear about a LCRA grant that will help us purchase an inflatable rescue boat, we will be able to assist LCRA rangers and anyone in our community in swift water emergencies. Our crews have just finished an extensive review on self contained breathing apparatus, we looked at the big 3, Scott, MSA, Sperion. We are compiling all the comments from the survey to choose the final product. We are also looking at new rescue tools and are going to try to get the same two sets on our engine and ladder. We have looked and used most brands but we are getting a demo from the brand we have not used. Our department has a lot on our plate as we are making this a better department for you our customers and have better safety for us. Remember we are here for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week, stop by anytime.
